Indeed very strange, this forum is full of threads with the same issue and the solve was always to disable the build-in audio.
Please also make sure to disable Squeezelite and any other audio player to rule it out as a source of error.
Also, could you share a screenshot of your settings page for audio output?
17. August 2017 at 9:32 #30677We do strive to be satisfactory.
The internet connection that is first accessible after rebooting is what your device prioritizes. So if the Pi still recognizes the ethernet in the first seconds before you disconnect it, it CAN lead to an issue. However, this does not happen very often and has become less and less of an issue as we improved and debugged Max2Play over time.
My previous diagnosis is just based on the small information that I can glean from this correspondence and the debug logs. However, the device’s many processes that run concurrently are something I am not privy to, as is your WiFi setup and its complexities. I assume the solution happened due to a process of your router, but the most important thing is, that it works 😉
WPS does not require an additional dongle, we just created the HowTo when the Raspberry Pi 2 was the newest model and it did not have built-in WiFi.
17. August 2017 at 9:22 #30674Hi TubeFX,
Please select „none“ as sound card, reboot, select your HiFiBerry again, reboot and check again.
This issue has always been related to deactivating the build-in audio. If you had not done a reboot after deactivation, please do so before following the instructions above.
16. August 2017 at 14:54 #30664Did you select your HiFiBerry card in the HiFiBerry menu or in the Raspberry Settings yet?
16. August 2017 at 14:09 #30661Hi TubeFX,
What options do you get after deactivating the build-in audio?
16. August 2017 at 14:08 #30660A reboot after changing settings is never a bad idea. When the yellow text has a notice to restart system, a reboot is mandatory.
If you have no ethernet cable connected, please also activate the Standalone option:
The accesspoint redirects all external requests to itself and sets up a default gateway to its IP-adress. Always activate this, if the device is not connected to the internet and if there is no other router connected by LAN-interface. Otherwise the audioplayers (e.g. squeezelite) will not work correctly.
16. August 2017 at 14:06 #30659Hi yocky,
The device still prioritizes the ethernet connection when booting, according to your log.
Please try one of our new WiFi connection options:
WPS: https://www.max2play.com/en/how-tos/how-to-wifi-configuration-with-wps-and-max2play/
or
Access Point Autostart Mode: https://www.max2play.com/en/2017/08/access-point-autostart-mode/
Both should would definitely solve the dependency issue with your ethernet.
16. August 2017 at 13:09 #30658Yup, you can find out the mixer device of the card in the alsamixer.
https://www.max2play.com/en/wiki/optimizing-squeezelites-volume-control/
As I have mentioned, this is not something we can help you directly. The topic you refer to is about a Raspberry Pi sound card, which we can help with as we use and work with them regularly. We do not have any experience with your card or sound card support for Odroid in general as the basis for the two systems of Max2Play also widely differ.
16. August 2017 at 13:06 #30657Hi NewOne,
Additional instructions:
RaspDacDisplay.py uses the variable LOGFILE to determine where to place it’s log file. The default is /var/log/RaspDacDisplay.log.
There are several variables you can adjust at the beginning of RaspDacDisplay.py to modify the software for different behavior. These are…
HESITATION_TIME – Titles or artists which are wider than the display width get scrolled. This variable sets how long the display should pause in seconds before the scrolling begins
ANIMATION_SMOOTHING – Sets the speed the upper speed for display update. Values between .1 and .25 seem to work well.
TIMEZONE – Sets what timezone should be used when displaying the current system time. Possible values can be found in the /usr/share/zoneinfo directory. Examples…
New York City. TIMEZONE=“US/Eastern“
San Francisco. TIMEZONE=“US/Pacific“
Paris. TIMEZONE = „Europe/Paris“
PAGES System:
There is now a more flexible system in place to configure what gets displayed on the screen. It uses a metaphor of a collection of pages that are displayed for each of the major modes of the system (stop, play, alert). A more complete description of how to modify and create pages is included in the „Page Format.txt“ file.
Note that ARTIST_TIME, and TITLE_TIME have been removed. This functionality is now captured in the PAGES system15. August 2017 at 16:38 #30649Hi Gianluigi,
First of all, thanks for the very kind words! It’s always great to hear when our software fits somebody’s needs that well 🙂
Secondly, could you share your debug info log of the Access Point Setup plugin?
Also, you can select the nl80211 option in your case:
The Driver for WiFi. For the Raspberry Pi 3 you should choose nl80211, if something is not working. Otherwise leave empty.15. August 2017 at 16:26 #30648Hi fabien,
Unfortunately, we do not have any experience with this sound device. Have you contacted the manufacturer to ask him about possible issues with the XU4, yet?
Also, which post are you referring to?
15. August 2017 at 16:23 #30647Hi yocky,
Please share the debug info log from the WiFi/LAN plugin.
Also, did you try the aforementioned steps again:
Reboot the Pi, remove the LAN cable and it should automatically connect to your WiFi. (make sure to disconnect the cable directly after clicking „reboot“ to ensure that the device does not prioritize the LAN immediately)15. August 2017 at 16:19 #30646Hi Alan,
You can also use shairport for simultaneously with Squeezelite thanks to our soft exit feature in the advanced options. Shairport is a little bit more reliable and advanced than shairtunes2, make sure to check it out.
15. August 2017 at 16:16 #30645It should show up in your network with a title, that’s the username.
15. August 2017 at 16:14 #30644Hi bob,
Please check the inactive plugins of the LMS and activate shairtunes2 (fork).15. August 2017 at 16:14 #30643Hi sveenma,
The Raspberry Settings are indeed a premium feature.
The miniDLNA is usually intended to create one on the basis of a USB drive connected to the Pi. However, the DLNA server is not a premium feature. You can use it fully.
15. August 2017 at 16:03 #30642Hi TubeFX,
Please diable build-in audio in the Raspberry Settings menu.
Please also have a look at our wiki on Kodi: https://www.max2play.com/en/wiki/kodixbmc/
15. August 2017 at 16:00 #30641Hi Berry,
August 2017 at 15:43 #30640Hi Wanchai,
Please check both the settings of your Squeezebox Server web interface for shairtunes2 in the plugins section and the audio player menu shairport. If both are active at the same time, this might occur. Select which solution works best for you and keep it.
15. August 2017 at 15:41 #30639Hi ryan,
Please check the inactive plugins and activate „shairtunes2 (fork)“.
14. August 2017 at 17:44 #30620Aw, sorry about getting your hopes up 🙁
Here is a makeshift solution for right now: http://wiki.slimdevices.com/index.php/BlackBerry
14. August 2017 at 17:08 #30619Hi ryan,
Please make sure the files do not have a special set of rights or restrictions.
14. August 2017 at 17:04 #30617Hallo NewOne,
14. August 2017 at 15:48 #30615Hi Bassie,
We checked some possible solutions for this, but unfortunately the librespot implementation does not have a proper fix for this yet. Once there is one out there, though, we will use it right away.
If you have a sound card with hardware volume control, you can set the default in our sound card menu to 50 %. This is currently the only way start Spotify Connect at a low volume.
14. August 2017 at 13:29 #30610Hi yocky,
By Squeezelite I mean the advanced options and the values in there. However, if you have the default this should not be an issue.
Regarding WiFi, you said you assigned an IP? The Pi should receive its IP when you enter your login credentials for WiFi in the web interface. Once you have this set up, you should be able to reboot the Pi, remove the LAN cable and it should automatically connect to your WiFi. (Don’t forget to tick the „load WiFi interface“ box)
14. August 2017 at 11:14 #30606Hi guys,
Volumio is not based on the LMS. However, Max2Play also offers a miniDLNA server with one-click installation. Here’s the link: https://www.max2play.com/en/portfolio/plugin-dlna-2/
14. August 2017 at 10:42 #30602Hi ryan,
– We do not recommend combining HAT sound cards on one Pi. But you can use any normal amps for the two outputs of the Piano.
– Not sure what you mean, could you clarify this question? If you have active speakers, a DAC would suffice. If you have two amp+ (need two Pi’s as well), passive speakers are directly connected.
14. August 2017 at 10:27 #30601Hi Alan,
If you find the time to try again, please check out the Squeezebox Server and Squeezelite.
Mounting should be no issue with our Filesystem/Mount plugin, the mounted path can then we used as the library for the Squeezebox Server. It automatically indexes all files and shows you Squeezelite as a player to control from its web interface. You can also use various apps for control or the Jivelite GUI.
14. August 2017 at 10:22 #30600Hi yocky,
Could you please link the previous, unresolved post, tell us the specifications of your Amp-Pi-Setup’s power supply and the settings you have in your Squeezelite player?
