    Hi.

I’m Linux-savvy and this is not so difficult, yet it seems to be.

      Here is what I have:

Synology with a known shared path to my music (//hostname/MyMusic)
HiFiBerry assembled and working (I had already tried MusicBox and RuneAudio successfully)

      Here is what I want:

Max2Play to catalogue my entire folder’s contents of MP3s for playing
Web page w/o login to choose and play songs, playlists, artists, etc.
Web page W/ login to manage the previous two „wants“ mentioned

      Here is what I’d like:

Max2Play to been seen by my iPhone as comparable item in the list of existing Chromecast devices on my network
Max2Play to be groupable with my existing Chromecast devices for multi-room play
Max2Play to SEE my Chromecast devices for output*
    * output to be BOTH the RCA physical output and the Chromecast network output

Leaving the „Likes“ aside, I’m finding it difficult to just get this up and working simply.
And, the videos are too long to get to the meat of instructions I simply need.

Thanks in advance for anyone who has been down this road and can respond with the steps to succeed.

    Alan

    Update 1:
I had MPD working, but didn’t like the interface.
I loaded Ampache and FINALLY got it to start building a database based on what is in /mnt/mpd – Hurray!
( I have little idea how to repeat this o.O )

I’ll be back with more as I find out.

    Update 2:
I have gone, for now, with Volumio.
My library is loaded and I have a sleep timer.

I hate the structure of the playlists files, but I’ll get over that.

    Hi Alan,

If you find the time to try again, please check out the Squeezebox Server and Squeezelite.

Mounting should be no issue with our Filesystem/Mount plugin, the mounted path can then we used as the library for the Squeezebox Server. It automatically indexes all files and shows you Squeezelite as a player to control from its web interface. You can also use various apps for control or the Jivelite GUI.

Thanks for the encouragement. I have reloaded and gotten a lot further.
The drive is mounted and SqueezeBox is scanning in my library.

As I continue to hack, it’d be nice to figure out why my AirPlay isn’t showing up in Pandora and/or PodCast apps on my iPhone.
I chose ShairTunes2 — maybe I need a different one from the list?

    Thanks!

Well, the nice thing about Win32DiskImage is that I can take a snapshot of my microSD card with all I did with Max2Play and then go play elsewhere.

    For now, back to Volumio.

I like a lot of the features of M2P, but it’s overwhelmingly too much, right now.

RuneAudio has the best ASCII playlist format.
Volumio & M2P are nearly as complex.

M2P has password for the player/web page
Volumio has a more seamless airplay from my Podcast app on iPhone

I LOVE that M2P can play to Google Chromecast!!

I just need to sort out my wants and needs.

    I’m sure I’ll be back.

    Hi Alan,

You can also use shairport for simultaneously with Squeezelite thanks to our soft exit feature in the advanced options. Shairport is a little bit more reliable and advanced than shairtunes2, make sure to check it out.
