    Hi Mario

Luckily it did not burn out but just overheated I think. I took the case off and stopped using the Pi on the hottest days. I also had problems with Amazon Fire TV sticks and there is no easy way to ventilate those.

Hi Mario, thanks for the reply.

I gave up trying to do it through the web interface but was successful using the the command line. I did need the ‚vers=3.0‘ in the options. I also enabled SMB3 on the diskstation = I suppose those two go together?. I have also added entries to fstab but I’ve no idea yet if they will work.

I thought it was sorted but no. It was working but …

This mounting screen seems odd. Each failed attempt is retained and the only action available is to delete. Deleting the failed ones also unmounts the successful one since the correct mount point was specified in the failed attempts. So, I tried to remount it using what worked last time (username,password,vers=3.0) but it fails with error 95 again. That’s when it eventually times out – minutes later.
When it fails it says ‚entry deleted‘ but it’s not – it is still visible hence the need to remove them manually

A bit annoying as was all working and I was just trying to tidy up.

Ah, I had to add ‚,vers=3.0‘ after the password

    Hi Mario
Thanks for your input on this. I’m now thinking it is just the fan on the storage unit making the noise – this disk activity lights do not indicate any activity – I can see this now that I’ve moved the unit from its concealment.

    Best wishes

    Hi

Its Direct Attached Storage(DAS) – a device like NAS but connected via USB to the Pi and the music library sits on that. It not formatted as RAID.

    Does that help?

    Thanks

    Hi

    Thanks for the response.

I’m not sure what you mean. Playback stops as one would expect . Disks carry on running.

If I disable auto-start on those two applications then nothing has changed. If I then restart the Pi I get a Pi that is doing nothing useful but still has running discs. I’m not sure what we have learnt from this?

    Regards

    David

Sure – that will be fine thanks. They are certainly spam but good quality spam compared to most. Anyway I have already deleted the messages.
