A friend of mine is looking for a way to output current artist,album cover , song information to his TV. He currently uses a squeezebox software client on his nvidia Shield as his player connected to his AVR . His server is a laptop. He is willing in building a Pi with Max2play as both his server and/or client, but would like to know if there is anyway he can view the above information on his large screen tv. 1st thoughts was maybe jivelite? He uses the material skin and his phone as his remote control, also I mentioned he might be able to chromecast the „material skin“ chrome content on his phone to his TV . Any other thoughts?

In principle, this is no problem with Max2Play. As you say, Jivelite would be an option. Jivelite is used to visualise and control audio playback. In addition, you could simply open the server’s web interface on the Pi and display the playback there. But Jivelite visualisation is a bit more optimised for touch screens or televisions.
