Hi,
I fixed the problem by executing:
sudo apt-get upgrade libcrypt-openssl-rsa-perl
The solution is taken from here (see msg #585).
I’ve seen that I’m not the only one who found this issue, that’s why I’m publishing the fix that worked for me. Hope this help other users.

A Raspberry Pi 3 B+ and a 2.50 version of Max2Play (downladed the latest image, which I believe is 2.49 version and then upgraded to 2.50 via the web interface).
