Sorry for digging out this old thread again …
I am a typical user without much knwoledge of Linux – that’s why I use max2play.
I have now bought a Waveshare 3.5 Inch Display under the impression that I could simply use it – which is not the case as I know now.
Anyway: I have tried to get it to work according to the instructions above here but after the first reboot the Pi always hangs at some point and I do not have the skills to investigate what has gone wrong.
My question now is: Since all the steps to make this kind of display work seem to exist (as in the thread above) would it not be possible to create a display-plugin from these steps? These displays seem to be frequently sold and the quality is really good (I think).
The only thing missing is the functionality with max2play.
Maybe someone could write such a plugin? Since my screen is unusable for me without that I would like to offer EUR 35,- (what I paid for the screen) as a reward.
I hope this is not an unreasonable request but I figure it may be worth a try …
