I’m using the squeezelite player and Hifiberry AMP2 on a PI3. How can I reduce the maximum volume of the sound?
Hi amelie,
In the HiFiBerry Plugin you can find a volume slider. If you have hardware volume control active (parameter „hw:0 or hw:1“ in command line options), the slider will be synced to the volume on the Squeezebox control. Remove it and save the Squeezelite settings to be able to reduce the volume in general with the same slider.
Thanks. When I remove hw:0 I’m going to have a worse sound quality, correct?
Your volume will only be impeded by software adjustment, I recommend you check yourself how much the quality suffers from this in your setup.
