Kodi keeps buffering

I have been running my present M2P/Pi setup for over a year now, it has worked perfectly, ….. until recently.

The audio via SBS and variuos players is fine, but streaming video from BBC iPlayer in Kodi keeps buffering, perhaps every 5 minutes, with a pause of 30 seconds to a minute or two. At first I thought it was my internet connection, but playing the same thing on a PC always works without a problem and a speedchecker shows I have 30MB which is ample.

Perhaps one clue is that the Settings/Reboot tab shows Health Checker in red with the message Internet: NO Connection. However I do clearly have a connection as I am streaming audio and video. My Pi is connected to the router with a network cable.

I have rolled back to the M2P image I took 12 months ago, but the problem remains.

Have you any suggestions as to how I diagnose the problem? Debug info as follows :

Hi Nojelc,

Might be an issue with Kodi and the plugin’s compatibilities and updates. If possible, try using a fresh Max2Play based on Stretch and see if the issue persists there in the BBC plugin. Make sure you have a backup of your current installation though.

Let’s ignore the Kodi issue for now. Why does my GUI say there is no internet connection?

I took this screenshot while internet radio was playing, so there was certainly a connection.

I have tried connecting with a different network cable, and also via wifi. The result is always the same, I get a connection but the Health checker is always red – No connection.

Hopefully you should be able to see that image – it is a screenshot of my M2P GUI

Hi Nojelc,

I don’t think the screenshot includes any new information, if so please copy-paste the pertinent lines of error.

Your WiFi/LAN debug does attest an active connection to your network. However, it might be restricted somehow.

Try removing your license, saving, rebooting and reentering your license to make sure you still have access to our server.

OK I have done all that, my m2p is now activated again. Also if I hit Update Max2Play I get the message „Running Check for Plugin Updates and install if available. Max2Play is up to date – no update required“ So I clearly have a connection to your server. However the Health Checker is still red saying „Internet: NO Connection“. All very strange!

Perhaps this is also why Kodi is buffering so much?

I will continue to investigate, if you have any ideas to help me diagnose the problem please advise.
