Hi Dan,
I assume you mean the gmediarender DLNA-client and not the DLNA-enabled Squeezelite (DLNA plugin in Squeezebox Server)? In this case, please check if the hifiberry output is selected and select one of the outputs for the defaulkt output (e.g. sysdefault bcm2835).
