For the last week I’ve been trying to install the Max2Play image with the Kodi15 package on my Odroid U3. For some reason the max2Play image with or without all the updates works perfect. Every time it expands the filesystem, updates packages, updates the kernel etc etc.

But as soon as I install Kodi15 thrue the webinterface (using http://steinerdatenbank.de/software/kodi-15.tar.gz or https://www.max2play.com/download/15362/) the multimedai player will not work anymore. Staring form the commandline results in ERROR: Unable to create GUI. Exiting or different errors.

So I’m wondering : Am I foloing the right procedure and been trying to find something online, but cant. So here’s the question :

„What is the right procedure to install Kodi15 on the U3 with the Max2Play image ?“

    Hi boumacor,

thanks for your post. Some days ago, the download link for the Kodi package we use for Max2Play changed. We fixed it in the latest Beta version. Alternatively, paste this Kodi download link

    http://steinerdatenbank.de/software/kodi-15-wheezy.tar.gz

into the Max2Play interface and start the installation as usual, please.

Hi, trying to update Kodi on my ODROID. I have done the above but the install fails. Log below:

How do I sort this out please. I did have an earlier version of Kodi installed, it has been running fine for over a year. However I could not get the latest version of iPlayer working so decided to uopdate to the latest Kodi. Now it seems the old version is deleted and the new version has failed to install.

    Help please!

Just tried again, still getting the same problem. Help please.

    Hi Nojelc,

Thank you for letting us know. There is an issue with Kodi 15.1 and U3, sorry for that. There are so many differenz systems and we don’t have the time to test every change with every single device. Therefore, your feedback is appreciated.

    The following solutions are available:

    Solution 1:
Update Max2Play to the latest Beta Version and install Kodi once again (the link given in our interface)

    Solution 2:
Log into the console with SSH and enter the following command:
    rm -R /usr/lib/arm-linux-gnueabihf/mesa-egl/

Kodi should work now. Please report your progress! Thank you.

Thanks for the options to correct this. Sorry if I am being thick, but I cannot see anything in the GUI to update to the latest Beta version. Where is this option?

Not familiar with SSH, presumably I can just plug monitor and keyboard into my odroid and enter the command direct?

How long before it will work with the next release of max2play i.e. if I do nothing.

Well I have tried, but without success.
    I entered the command
    rm -R /usr/lib/arm-linux-gnueabihf/mesa-egl/
I assume it did something, but there was no response.
I then tried to run Kodi – nothing. This did not suprise me as my previous attempt to update it resulted in the existing implementation being deleted, and the new one not being installed.

Tried once again to install Kodi with the procedure at the top of the thread. Just the same result:

    Remove old version
dpkg: warning: ignoring request to remove xbmc which isn’t installed
dpkg: warning: ignoring request to remove kodi which isn’t installed

So my max2play Kodi is still snafu. Have I misunderstood the instructions?

    27. Januar 2016 at 16:17 #18170

    Hi Nojelc,
Please try again with a newly burnt image and updating to the latest beta (under Settings/Reboot directly beneath the regular options reboot/shutdown/etc.)

    30. Januar 2016 at 10:52 #18258

oo-er – That sounds a bit complicated! Just about to go away for 6 weeks so will have a go when I get back.
Will the next version, when released, correct this? i.e. if I just wait until 2.28 is available will that sort everything out, or have I done some damage to my Kodi implementation that will not be corrected by a simple upgrade?

    17. März 2016 at 11:09 #19328

OK, back from my travels now and keen to get my max2play/kodi installation working again.
The first thing I did was to Update M2P, that worked fine and I am now on Version 2.28 ODROID-U2/U3.
I then tried to install Kodi 15.1 using the link https://www.max2play.com/download/15362/. That appeared to go ok, it downloaded and installed.

However when I try to start Kodi I get the following:
Trying to launch … NOT successful Click here to show detailed information
    Use Interface eth0 with -m 8a:75:8c:63:98:e8
    Stopping Squeezelite
/sbin/start-stop-daemon: warning: failed to kill 2596: No such process
    Stopping Shairport
sudo: no tty present and no askpass program specified
/usr/local/lib/kodi/kodi.bin: error while loading shared libraries: libGLESv2.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

Can I sort this out easily please, or do I need to download and burn a new image of max2play?

    Hi Nojelc,

sorry to hear that you still have problems. Installing the Plugin using the URL https://www.max2play.com/download/15362/ should really do the job for you, but obviously it doesn’t. As the system had to deal with several unsuccessful installation attempts over the course of the last few months, we cannot exclude the possibility that something is seriously broken within your image. In this case I see no other option than starting with a newly burnt image again.

Thanks Roman. I have burnt a new image, updated to Kodi 15.1, everything is now fine.

I would like to say that I remain hugely impressed with the max2play/Odroid U3 combo, fantastic system. Well done to all those involved. I have hit the „Donate“ button again!
